They aim to :
Develop and design systems for converting energy (solar, thermal from industrial processes, electrical) into thermal energy, radiated for conversion into electrical energy,
Propose, fabricate and characterize materials and structures optimizing radiative exchanges in these conversion devices,
Develop p-n diode components (thermophotovoltaic cells, LEDs, etc.) for these converters,
Develop intermediate high-temperature heat storage systems,
Contribute to the development of advanced concepts, such as those involving near-field radiation effects to increase the electrical power density generated, or hybridization with other thermal-to-electrical energy converters (thermoionics).
